What if we could eliminate barriers to local community real estate development to provide effective and transformational access to resources?
What if we completely reversed the economics of development—placing God’s heart for local communities at the center of our work?
If 25,000 people banded together and each donated $50 (a little more than the cost of a tank of gas), the $1.25 million could transform 50 homes. By investing in local communities and reinvesting excess, this nonprofit development model can transform countless lives. Join us.
“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
Isaiah 58:12
This is not just an abstract concept. In 2016 the Evangelical Covenant Church began a 100% internally funded pilot project in Dolton, Illinois, to acquire and renovate homes for community families. The partnership between Love Mercy Do Justice, National Covenant Properties, and New Zion Covenant Church has rehabbed nearly 15 homes. That’s 15 families who now have access to safe and affordable housing.
We are experiencing great momentum and holistic community benefits such as:
Beautifully restored properties
Employment and job skill development opportunities for local residents who work as local professionals, contractors, and laborers
Refurbished vacant properties, resulting in improved economic conditions for the entire community
Tenants welcomed by a mission-minded landlord and fully supported by “wrap-around” services including food security, job training, counseling, and a supportive community
Long-term economic transformation for residents and the community
Community pride enhanced the neighborhood works together to seek restoration and renewal
We were able to acquire our first 15 homes with limited donor investment. The ECC invested over $600,000 to launch this initial project. Please consider joining our efforts as we take this model to new communities.
Imagine what we can do if 25,000 people each donate $50.
25,000 donors x $50 each = $1.25 million
That’s nearly double our initial investment!
Together, we can create a Community Redevelopment Mission Fund to replicate our work in Dolton, Illinois, nationwide.
